Cyprus Holidays

The island of Cyprus has a rich historical and cultural heritage, which is evident from the vast number of ancient monuments, sites, castles and forts around the island.

The island’s history can be traced back to the time of Neolithic man in 7,000BC and spans invasions by the Ancient Greeks, Romans, the Crusaders and the Venetians; all of who have left their legacies of culture, lifestyle and architecture for future generations to experience and enjoy.

Most famously, Cyprus is known as the birthplace and playground of the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, who was known as ‘Kipris’ in Greek and gave the islands its Greek name, ‘Kypros’. According to Greek mythology, she rose from the waves in a huge clamshell at Petra tou Romiou, a strikingly beautiful spot between Paphos and Lemesos.
